Puebla De Sanabria
Puebla De Sanabria, located approximately 30 km from Varge, is a historic town strategically located at the confluence of the Tera and Castro rivers. It is recognized as an artistic historical site and preserves its ancient protective walls. The highlight is the 15th century castle, with its imposing Tower of Homage and panoramic views at an altitude of 960 meters. The parish church of Nuestra Señora del Azogue, built in the 12th century, houses a 13th century baptismal font with sculpted figures. The town is also adorned with palaces and mansions displaying coats of arms, including the 15th century Casa Consistorial, located in the Plaza Mayor. In addition to its beautiful old town, Puebla de Sanabria is surrounded by stunning landscapes and is close to the Sanabria Lake Natural Park, the largest lake of glacial origin in Spain, with 368 hectares and a depth of 55 meters.
